Bandwagon

Bandwagon is the use of persuasion to make you think that everyone else is doing something that you may be not.  Think of what you would be missing if you were the last one to “jump on the bandwagon”.  Bandwagon is an appeal to the subject to follow the crowd, to join in because others are doing so.

1st EXAMPLE (Coca Cola):  People sitting bored on a beach.  One by one people start using their coke bottles to make upbeat, rather addicting, music.

2nd EXAMPLE (Gap):  “Everybody in Cords” is the slogan.  Several “pretty” people sitting around in corduroy pants singing a song.

3rd EXAMPLE The “I Voted” sticker is given out at polling booths.  By wearing the sticker, the person is telling everyone else that he/she is on the “bandwagon”- and did the right thing by voting.
