Testimonials

Testimonials are quotations or endorsements which attempt to connect a famous or respectable person with a product or item.  Testimonials are often used in advertising and political campaigns. Propagandists use this technique to associate a respected person or someone with experience to endorse a product or cause by giving it their stamp of approval hoping that the intended audience will follow their example.

1st EXAMPLE (Cover Girl):  Advertisement for Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick.  Taylor Swift never says anything, but she is wearing the lipstick and dancing around in the background.

2nd EXAMPLE (PETA):  Celebrity, Paul McCartney, endorses the organization PETA in this magazine ad.

3rd EXAMPLE (Mike Huckabee Political Ad):  Chuck Norris (famous American action tv/movie actor) endorses Republican candidate Mike Huckabee for President.

4th EXAMPLE (Volcanic Nectar):  Product is endorsed using someone who is not a celebrity, but a mom (plain folk) who wants to cook healthier food for her family.
